Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Season-Opening Trophy in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
